The Local Government Unit of Manaoag under the impeccable supervision of Mayor Kim Mikael G. Amador, conducted a dry run/briefing this morning at the Municipal Warehouse in preparation for World Food Safety Day on June 7, 2019.

June 7 has been officially proclaimed as World Food Safety Day during the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This initiative is the result of the initiative of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). This, starting 2019, the world will officially celebrate World Food Safety Day on the said date.

Municipal Agriculturist Engr. Arnold Raul E. Geronimo presided over the briefing attended by local farmer associations, barangay officials, guests from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Regional Office, Municipal Agriculture Office personnel and other stakeholders.

This year’s theme is “Assuring Food Safety in the Food Chain is Fundamental to Healthy Living”.

In attendance were Romel M. Tejano, Social and Environmental Safeguards Officer and Menzhiel G. Gonzaga, Rural Infrastructure Engineer of the PRDP-DA Regional Office, Municipal Engineer Rey Mangonon Galano, Municipal Budget Officer Engr. Edgardo A. Valdez, Municipal Administrator Carlito P. Hernando, LGU Rice Coordinator Virginia O. Geronimo, Mario Gutierrez, Head of the Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries and Punong Barangays’ Jim Aquino of Cabanbanan, Edwin Lacaste of Oraan East and Bobby Padilla of Oraan West.
